Repost: You are not alone!

I have learned a few things recently on this site.  One thing I’ve learned is that many people on here feel very alone - even in the midst of hundreds of other people on similar journeys.  A weight loss journey probably is one of the loneliest (and misunderstood) journeys around - and people do deal with that loneliness in different ways.  On this site, for instance - some people reach out in bold plain English with “HELP ME” blogs - while others put out very gentle subtle calls for help that unfortunately sometimes get lost in the Sea of all that is Buddyslim.

So I guess all I’m saying is if you feel alone - reach out and talk to someone.  Don’t just sit back and watch other people participate in blogs and on the forums - open up and be a part of it.  I find that most people will write back - most people here are here for the right reasons and are thankful for support, and are more than willing to give it back.  And I’m willing to bet that most people on here also understand whatever it is that you’re feeling and/or dealing with at the moment in your journey.

I know it rots to write a blog and have no one respond - but just keep trying - keep writing - and remember, even though we’re not saying it every day (and some days it may not feel like it) we ARE all right here alongside you in this journey.  You are not alone.

TOGETHER WE CAN (and we WILL) SUCCEED!!

Re-motivate myself

Hi there buddies.  I am on the Hot Rods team, and we are attemping to re-motivate ourselves - re-inspire ourselves as a team - whatever you wanna call it.  So I’ve decided I need to do that too - on a personal level.  I’ve literally been dancing around the same 3-5 pounds for months (and months).  And it’s not like I’m trying really hard and it’s not working (that would be more frustrating).  I’ve not been really trying (which is beyond frustrating - it’s embarassing).  It’s amazing how that works.  Don’t try - Don’t lose anything.

So here I sit tonight eating dinner - and it was a BEAUTIFUL day out - so I decided to get some grillable veggies at the store.  I grilled yellow squash slices, big sliced steak mushrooms, and a roma tomato.  YUM!  I grill on an indoor grill (yeah - I know - coulda done it all winter but … I didn’t) and I spritzed the veggies with Ken’s lite raspberry walnut dressing.  Can you say  SUPER yum!  These veggies are incredibly good!  When I eat something like this - I think to myself “why can’t I lose weight - I can eat like this every day”.  I’m just lazy about it.

Not any more.  Today I am going to get back on track.  It’s Spring - it’s time to spring into action.  I have a mini-goal at 4 lbs lighter than I am right now.  I hit it a few weeks ago but it went away as fast as it came.  I want to hit it this week - and I can do it.

So that’s my pledge.  4 lbs.  My goal after HITTING this weight - will be to see this weight on the scale at night (vice in the morning).  Once I’m doing that - I’ll be that much closer to my next 5 lb mini-goal.

I hope everyone is doing well  and having a super fabulous weekend!
(I’m heading out for a walk…)

Hey Skinny!

At work today, I came out of a meeting and headed down the hall to my office.  In the hall I met up with a guy about my age that I haven’t seen in probably 2-3 months.  I know him fairly well - not super well - but we’ve talked about weight issues in the past (especially our mutual addiction to Coke - the soda ;)) and so I’m walking down the hall and he says “Hey Skinny!”

I was so flattered. :)  He’s right though - I’m looking thinner.  I’m not SKINNY by any means - but what a nice thing to say, and to be honest it truly lifted my mood.

Yeah! :)

Spicing up vegetables?

Hi all.  I’m trying so hard to eat a lot more veggies, so I basically saute them with chicken.  I’d like to add variety to the veggies using spices.  Do any of you have any ideas on spices to use beyond the “normal” ones and/or combinations?  Tonight I tried mint & cilantro.  Yum :)  Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have. :)

Buddy Slim-O-Meter

I’ve been a member of this site since April 07, and at that time the little Buddy Slim-O-Meter thing showed around 72K pounds lost.  Now it says almost 243K pounds.  That amazes me.  I have no real insight into it or anything - and it always makes me laugh when I see it, because I wonder how many meetings the site creators had sitting around discussing what to call that thing.  “Let’s call it the BuddyScale” “How about the Scale-O-Rama” “No - I’ve got it - we’ll call it the Buddy Slim-O-Meter!”  :)  Whatever works, I guess - but I do notice it and WOW has it changed.  My personal little Slim-O-Meter hasn’t contributed much to those 171K pounds unfortunately.  YET. :)

Good luck buddies in your personal journeys!!

New Invention Idea…

NO it’s not a DD Sports Bra… ;)  I was just sitting here on my a** typing to friends, surfing the net, etc - and it dawned on me that somebody should invent a treadmill or elliptical machine with a KEYBOARD rest instead of a book rest.  I mean - you can face your computer monitor and type/surf while walking/jogging/whatever.   :)

And if one of you DOES invent this… I want a piece of the action.  Actually - just send me one (top of the line one) and we’ll call it even. :)

DD sports bra?

Ok - I’m talking to the big chested women out there… have any of you found any place that carries BIG sports bras?   Now I put DD in the subject line… but really I’m looking for bigger than that (just didn’t wanna advertise it to the world, ya know?).  But I can’t find anything that holds everything in place.  Now obviously it’s gonna have to flatten to the uni-boob look, but that’s fine as long as when I jump around I don’t … well you get the picture.  Anyway - if anyone SERIOUSLY knows any place to find BIG sports bras, I would certainly appreciate knowing.

Are you a Compulsive weigher?

I am so excited!  I have been just stuck for quite a while, going up and down in the same 2-3 pound range after gaining about 7 pounds in August.  Well, tonight I just weighed myself and I weigh LESS than I have been in the mornings on the low side of that range.

Now let me explain that I am a compulsive weigher.  I really REALLY hope I’m not the only one!!  :) I weigh myself EVER Y single day - in the morning (after I pee) and at night (right after every time I get up to pee).  Hahaha!  I just can’t help it.  I track my morning weights via physicsdiet.com (thanks again Matt - that site is SO awesome) and I just track my night weight in my head.  I can usually kinda tell how the morning is going to be based on the night - but I must say to see the weight at NIGHT go below what it was STUCK at in the mornings!  WHOOOIE!!

So I just had to share…

Lost a little

Hey all.  I have been doing pretty well working out 4-5 times a week, and I’m starting to get compliments about “are you losing weight?” and today a woman I work with who lost over 150 pounds herself said to me “you look narrower”.  Well, cool - but I haven’t been really losing much weight.  WHICH normally would frustrate me - but I”m just sticking to it and thinking about the exercise more as a stress reliever than as a weight-loss tool.  And today I weighed myself and I am actually losing a little weight over the long term.  So that’s okay - and I’m happy with that.  I’m hoping it will keep going in that direction.

I hope you all are having a good day and keeping your attitudes positive!!  :)  WE WILL GET THERE!!
